Q:
Why did I receive this message?
And why is there a WARNING?
A: You received this message because you were sent a file type that is on our restricted file list. The files are restricted because they can be executed inadvertently or they may contain a virus. You have the option to rename the file back to the original file type.
Q. Why was the e-mail altered?
A. ITS has implemented a policy defining unacceptable e-mail attachments. Each incoming e-mail is scanned for attachments and unacceptable ones may be removed or altered. Altered file types that could be renamed are: *.app *.jpg *.asd *.fxp *.asf *.hlp *.asx *.hta *.bas *.hto *.bat *.inf *.chm *.ini *.cmd *.ins *.com *.isp *.cpl *.jse *.crt *.lib *.dll *.lnk *.exe *.msc *.msi *.msp *.mst *.ocx *.pcd *.prg *.rar *.reg *.sct *.sh *.shb *.shs *.sys *.url *.vb *.vbe *.vbs *.vcs *.vxd *.wmd *.wms *.wmz *.wsc *.wsf *.wsh *.zip *.dib *.emf *.ani *.cur *.ico. Q. Who altered my e-mail?
A. Your system administrator or ISP has installed a scanning program which modified your e-mail. If you are reading this website, it is because your message relayed through smtp.state.nc.us.
If you have concerns about the way your mail is processed, please send an email to access.denied at nc.gov.
